Summertime Livin' at Henmick

What do you get when you combine long summer days with the end of masking-wearing days? The perfect time of year to grab your favorite cocktail and relax on a patio with friends and family. Can’t say we were doing that last year, but man oh man, I’m looking forward to doing exactly that this year. There are so many excellent bars and restaurants with patio space around Columbus, but I’m excited to tell you about a new one opening soon in Delaware, Ohio. We feel very fortunate to be partnering with this multi-generation, family-run brewery because it echos the CBC story in many ways.

The land Henmick Farm and Brewery sits on has been in the Sheets family since 1916. From traditional field crops to all kinds of livestock, it was a place where hard-working people helped each other out and families were raised. Nick Sheets, owner of Henmick Farm and Brewery, sees this next chapter as a way to pay homage to those who worked the land before him, and to reinvest in the farm by reinventing it. Some of his best memories growing up were made on this land and he can’t wait to share it with the community.

The main building at Henmick Farm and Brewery consists of a spacious reception area and full-service taproom featuring their own Henmick beer. Nick was conscientious of maintaining the integrity and rich history of the farmland by using the 1860’s barn for the main gathering area. To accentuate the tall beams and rafters in the barn, a 30-foot-tall Rumford fireplace makes a dramatic statement and can only be truly appreciated in-person.

Aside from the peaceful backdrop to relax and recharge after a stressful work week, Henmick Farm and Brewery is sure to be known as a top spot for craft beer. Joining their team as Head Brewer is Zack Cline, an Ohio-born brewer specializing in recipe development. He was named “2018 Brewer of the Year” by Columbus Alive Magazine. Part of his expertise in crafting the smoothest beer comes from his dedication in assessing yeast health under a microscope and analyzing water mineral profiles. The beer selection at Henmick Farm and Brewery will rotate to ensure a wide selection of new recipes at every visit, and eventually, they will make their own hard ciders. If you’re not into craft beer, no worries – their full liquor license provides alternatives, so you can enjoy cocktails, wine, and even nonalcoholic beverages. Bring the whole family to enjoy a taste of country living!
